"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2
Today, Thanksgiving Tuesday, I am thankful for God's transforming power. God is not just a God of salvation - as necessary as that is - but he is also a God of transformation. Someone once said "God loves us too much to leave us where we are." It's the rule of cause and effect. God's limitless love for us causes him to want only the best for us, and to that end, he will sometimes poke and prod us until he has our undivided attention. Then the Holy Spirit begins his gentle work of reminding us, convicting us, transforming us. Transformation is not always easy. It's hard to admit we are wrong. It's hard to forgive someone who has wounded us so deeply that we feel we will never get past that pain. And yet, if we will just open ourselves to the ministrations of the Holy Spirit and the unconditional love of God, every step along the journey to healing--isn't that what transformation really is--will be directed and protected by God. And when the transformation is complete, what a powerful thanksgiving we will be able to offer up.
What about you? Has God done a transforming work in your life lately? Please feel free to share.
