Receive God's Blessing: The Law of the Lord

Blessed is the man who does no walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. (Psalm 1:1-3 New International Version)

When we are obedient to God’s word, and we study His Word – know it – understand it – live it, God blesses us for that. Not that we are obedient to keep His laws just so we may receive His blessings. We are obedient out of our love for Him and His love for us.

Father God, thank You for Your Word. We thank You for the wisdom and guidance contained therein. Help us to always be a student of Your word – not because of the blessings You give us, but so we may know You more intimately and walk closer with You. In Your precious name, Amen.
