Isaiah 14:14 states, "The Lord will fight for you,  you only need be still." Now, fill in your name, and it reads like this: "The Lord will fight for Edwina, Edwina only need be still."

Another version has replaced 'you only need be still' with 'you shall hold your peace.' "The Lord will fight for Edwina, Edwina shall hold her peace."

So why do we not stand still?  Sit still?  At this point, it is all He is asking of us.

God told me several weeks ago to step back from all that I was doing for a period of time, so that I could sit before Him and be still.

Be. Still.

"Be still and know. Be still and know that I AM. Be still and know that I AM your GOD."

I am not a person to sit still and do nothing. Even when I'm sitting, I'm doing something - writing, reading, cross stitching, and the list could go on.

So the challenge has been for me to sit still. That is until last week when I had the opportunity to go away for two days to the north Georgia mountains. There is nothing like sitting outside in the crisp, cool fall air watching the sun rise over the Blue Ridge mountains. The leaves were just beginning to change color. A spot of orange here, a splash of gold over there, a burst of red, yet still surrounded by the rich greens of summer. And there, among the beauty of God's creation, I sat still. And listened. And heard.

Great reminder, because like you, Edwina, I'm not one to sit still.

Wow, I am doing the same thing at the beach the past 4 days. It is hard but the Lord has blessed my time. Wish I could allow myself to "be still" at home.

Know this will be a wonderful time for you. The Lord loves for us to be still with Him.
