Put God First: Our All

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6 New International Version)

The word "all" means simply, "all." Not ten percent, not half, not even ninety-nine percent, but ALL. Everything. His ways are much higher than our ways and His thoughts are much higher than our thoughts. When we try to understand things on our own, using only our knowledge, we usually fail at our understanding and at whatever task we've undertaken at that time. But, as we put our trust in Him, we can rest in His promises. When we give God the glory and recognize His hand and His help in everything we do, say and think, He will lead and guide us in our daily lives and He will also show us His plans for us. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Father God, we thank You that we can rest in Your promises – all of Your promises that are found throughout Your Word. Abba Father, we do give You glory, recognizing that without You, we are nothing and can do nothing. But with You and Your help, we can do all things. Thank You Father. We love you, Lord Jesus. Amen.

Edwina:
Why is it hard for us to grasp the concept of ALL? Is it that we don't believe what we read?

Celeste,

Sometimes I think we use "selective application," even when we are not aware that is what we're doing. We give Him part of our lives, but we hang onto the part(s) we don't want to give up - selective application. The same can be said for Scripture. We apply the Scriptures we want to be activated in our life, but we ignore those we don't want to apply to us. Hope that makes sense.

Blessings!
