A Second Chance

"On this day of your life, Edwina, we believe God wants you to know ... that gratitude is good. The more you are thankful for, the more you will have to be thankful for. God responds to a grateful heart with joy."

If you’re on FaceBook at all, you will have seen my messages from an application called “God Wants You to Know.” It’s the only application I subscribe to because I don’t have time to be on FaceBook. But I will check in for a few minutes every couple of days and I always check my “Message from God.” I find it quite interesting that 9 times out of 10, the message really does apply to me. For example, today’s message is listed above. And it changed my blog completely.

I had a doctor’s appointment this past Friday. She gave me what she considered a “final warning.” I have Type 2 diabetes. Her warning was – get my diabetes in control by losing weight and exercising within the next 3 months, or I would probably have to go on insulin. That is not what I wanted to hear.

I spent the weekend berating myself and having a pity party. That accomplished nothing. But I still planned to moan, groan and whine on this blog post. That is, until I read today’s message. And I realized I should be grateful for the warning. In fact, I believe God used the doctor’s warning to wake me up. Maybe it’s His way of knocking some sense into my head.

So, I am grateful. Grateful for the warning. Grateful for another chance. And very grateful that God is a God of second, third, fourth, fiftieth, etc. chances.

If God will give me another chance, He will do the same for you. Take advantage of that chance today. And be grateful for it. Selah.

Edwina:
You are in my prayers. A friend of mine has been told to do better about her sugar readings or go on insulin. The doctor prescribed an added medication to her main med and she has stayed off insulin for the present.
When Hubby came out of the hospital the second time, he had to get a glucometer and test two times a day. Doctor also put him on an added med for diabetes. It helped bring his numbers down.
