The Anonymous Bride by Vickie McDonough

Book One of the Texas Boardinghouse Series, The Anonymous Bride is an authentic Wild West story. Author Vickie McDonough has done a fabulous job of placing the reader in the Wild West setting. The readers will be transported back in time to Lookout, Texas in 1886 where the hero is the new Marshall and the heroine is his ex-fiance. Here’s part of the back summary:

"It’s been years, but Luke Davis is back—older and wiser—and still alone.
Returning as Lookout’s new town Marshall, Luke is determined to face
the past and move on. But when he discovers the woman who betrayed
him is now a widow, all his plans fall at his feet.

Rachel has carried her guilty shame for eleven years. Her marriage to
James Hamilton was not what Luke or the town thought it to be. Now
James is dead and Luke is back. Could they possibly find love a second
time?

Rachel begs his forgiveness, but Luke finds he has not to give.

And then the brides arrive. Three of them—ordered for Luke through
newspaper adds by his incorrigible cousins. The only place in town for
them to stay is Rachel’s boardinghouse. And none of the ladies is willing to
let Luke go. When choosing a bride becomes a contest, the chaos that ensues
is almost funny.

When the mayor forces Luke to pick a bride or lose his job, will Luke listen to
his heart that still longs for Rachel or choose one of the mail-order brides?"

This book has it all – captivating setting, characters that you will love (well, most of them, anyway), humor and faith. And the "choosing the bride contests" are funny! This is a great book for your summer reading list and Vickie has graciously given a copy for one lucky reader! Leave your comment and your email address in case you’re the winner! Drawing will be held on Friday, April 30.

This contest is void where prohibited. The contest is open to residents of the United States only.

This sounds like a wonderfully funny book. Is it a part of a larger series?

Hi Rebeka,

It is a part of a larger series. This is book one; I'm not sure when book two will be out.

Blessings,

Edwina

Ladies,

I'm so sorry that I have not drawn a winner and contacted you before now! If you've read my blogs over the last month, you know that I've been taking care of my parents.

I am finally at home and getting caught up (somewhat) on things. I've drawn a name - Pookah!!

Ann, since I will see you in a couple of weeks at Christian Writers United, I'll bring the book then!

Again, my sincere apologies!!
